Freedom, adventure -- and often some danger, but especially if you're not properly trained. To improve your sea-going capability in navigation, communication, emergency survival, or for the international Super Yacht Industry, OTEN o ers a range of TAFE PLUS courses. We can help you to prepare for certificates o ered by the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) and Yachting Australia (YA). Interested in a career on commercial vessels? Our courses can also assist you to train as a Coxswain, Coastal Master or Marine Engine Driver. Let us help you get the knowledge and skills to meet maritime licensing and regulatory requirements. Qualification in automotive, warehousing and logistics may be studied through other colleges within Western Sydney Institute. See wsi.tafensw.edu.au for information. TAFE PLUS Statement in Celestial Navigation Course No 23873 TAFE PLUS fee $290 Meets the requirements of the Yachting Australia Ocean Yachtmaster shore based course. It provides you with the skills to be able to determine your geographic position from the observation of celestial bodies. Entry requirements: There are no formal educational requirements. You need to have completed Coastal Navigation. TAFE PLUS Statement in RYA/YA Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster (Theory) Course No 27095 TAFE PLUS fee $765 Helps people worldwide to study for the Royal Yachting Association's (RYA) and Yachting Australia's (YA) theory (shore- based) component of the Coastal Skipper/ Yachtmaster O shore Certificate. Topics include those items covered in the RYA/YA syllabus. On successful completion you can sit for the practical component of the RYA/YA in order to gain the certificate. The certificate is endorsed by the Marine and Coastguard Agency (MCA) in the United Kingdom for work in the Super Yacht Industry internationally. Entry requirements: There are no formal educational requirements. Knowledge equivalent to the Day Skipper Shore- based course would be an advantage. Senior First Aid and Maritime Radio Operations courses are recommended. TAFE PLUS Statement in RYA/YA Day Skipper Theory Course Course No 27297 TAFE PLUS fee $765 Helps people worldwide to study for the Royal Yachting Association's (RYA) and Yachting Australia's (YA) theory (shore- based) component of the Day Skipper/ Yachtmaster Certificate. Topics include those items covered in the RYA/YA syllabus. On successful completion you can sit for the practical component of the RYA/YA in order to gain the certificate. It can be used as a prerequisite for the Yachtmaster theory course and you may combine this with the sea going requirements set out by RYA/YA. Entry requirements: There are no formal educational requirements. TAFE PLUS Statement in Sea Survival Course No 22057 TAFE PLUS fee $3075 per group Meets the wet drill component of Yachting Australia's Sea Safety and Survival Course. It can be an exciting and highly e ective team building experience. Completing this course alone does not qualify you for the full YASSSC. This course requires a minimum number of students to run. Entry requirements: There are no formal educational requirements. Selected Study Program Program No 32000 OTEN o ers a range of defined programs within vocational areas allowing you to gain skills and knowledge in targeted areas.
