11 At OTEN, studying by distance doesn't mean you'll be alone. As an enrolled student with OTEN you can access a range of support services from OTEN or through TAFE NSW colleges, as well as online services which are easily accessed through the DET Portal. Your DET User ID and Password are provided in your Confirmation of Enrolment letter/email after you are enrolled. Online Learning Support website OTEN provides all enrolled students with additional online study support and general information during their studies via the Online Learning Support (OLS) website. The OLS may deliver your learning materials or provide additional resources to help with your assessments. You can download and submit your assessments online, check the status of your course and unit progress, and contact your teaching section via email. If you do not have the internet at home, you can access the OLS through computers at TAFE NSW colleges, public libraries and other private internet facilities. You will need your DET User ID and Password to access the internet at a TAFE NSW college. TAFE NSW Libraries As an OTEN student, you can visit libraries at any TAFE NSW college. TAFE NSW libraries have extensive resources, facilities and support services for students. These include print and electronic resources (videos, journals, exam papers, audiovisual and multi-media titles) and computers. Libraries may also provide a range of training sessions tailored to your needs. You can access resources through the TAFE NSW library catalogue from college libraries or online. You will need a TAFEcard or you may be able to register as a library borrower using your OTEN Enrolment Confirmation letter. Interstate students may also access the TAFE Libraries -- National Reciprocal borrowing scheme. This allows students of participating TAFE libraries to register and borrow materials in person from any other participating TAFE library in any other state. The NRS helps people who are deaf or who have a hearing or speech impairment get in contact with OTEN by phone. For more information visit www.relayservice.com.au. Calls to the service cost about the same as a local call. All calls to OTEN are secure and relayed with strict confidentiality. For Teletypewriter (TTY) or computer with modem users phone 133 677 then request the OTEN number you need. For Speak and Listen (speech to speech relay) users phone 1300 555 727 then request the OTEN phone number you need. TAFE NSW Learning Centres Haven't studied for a while? Need some support in reading, writing and everyday maths to help with your studies? As an OTEN student you may visit the Learning Centre at a TAFE NSW college.
